Candy AI is one of the most-searched AI companion apps, and most of the reviews ranking for it are written by the company’s own partners. This one isn’t. Short version: Candy AI is legit, it’s very good at visuals, and it’s more expensive than it looks.

If you want an AI boyfriend you can actually see — a face, a body type and a style you designed yourself — Candy AI is one of the strongest options in 2026. If you want a boyfriend who remembers your life in detail month after month, there are better choices. Here’s the full breakdown.

What is Candy AI?

Candy AI is a web-based AI companion platform launched in 2023 and operated by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta. You chat with a companion by text, and you can also get voice messages, voice calls and AI-generated images of him. It allows unfiltered 18+ chat for adults.

Like many companion apps, Candy AI started out girlfriend-first, and it still shows: the library of ready-made female characters is far larger than the male one. But the builder has a proper Male option, and that’s where it gets interesting for anyone looking for a Candy AI boyfriend.

A few basics before you sign up:

• Web only. There’s no native iOS or Android app. It works in a mobile browser.
• 18+ only. You need to be an adult to use it.
• Subscription plus tokens. Chat is covered by Premium; images, voice and video use tokens.

Is Candy AI legit?

This is one of the most common questions about the app, and the answer is yes, Candy AI is legit. It’s a real product from an identifiable company, EverAI Limited in Malta. Being in Malta puts it under EU law, including GDPR, which gives you stronger data rights than many companion apps operating from less regulated places.

We didn’t find any public data breach involving Candy AI, and there’s no record of the kind of scandal that has hit apps like Muah AI. The complaints in third-party Candy AI reviews are about money, not fraud:

• The real price is higher than the sticker price. Tokens for images, voice and video are charged on top of the subscription.
• Promos change often, so the price you saw in an ad may not be the one you get at checkout.

When you create a character, you choose Male and then work through his appearance: face, body, style and the overall look, followed by his personality and how he relates to you. Conversation on Candy AI is fluent and responsive, and it handles flirty and 18+ chat without the filters you’ll hit on Character AI or Replika. Reviewers generally describe its memory as decent in the short to medium term: he’ll keep track of what’s happening in the current conversation and some recent context.

Where it falls behind is long-term memory. Candy AI isn’t built around remembering your life over weeks and months the way Nomi AI and Kindroid are. If you want an AI boyfriend who brings up your job interview from last month, those two are the better fit. Candy AI is better thought of as a visual, in-the-moment companion than a long-term partner.

Media is where Candy AI earns its reputation, and also where it earns its money.

• Images: Image generation is among the strongest in the category, and because you designed his look, the pictures stay consistent. Each image costs tokens (about 4 tokens per image, per reviewers).
