Most AI boyfriend apps cost $10–20 a month, or roughly $4–10 a month if you pay for a year up front. Many have a free tier, and a few are free to use indefinitely. The catch is that several popular apps charge separately for images, voice and video through tokens, so what you actually spend can be well above the headline price.

The hidden costs
Tokens and credits
Candy AI, OurDream AI, DreamBF, Joi AI and Lovescape use tokens or credits for media. A subscription might include a small allowance, but frequent pictures, calls or videos mean buying more. Add-ons and tiers
Some apps sell upgrades on top of the base plan. Kindroid’s Ultra add-on is +$24.99 a month on the web, and its Max add-on is +$59.99. SpicyChat’s best memory is on its top tier, and PolyBuzz’s permanent memory requires its $29.90 plan.
Weekly billing
Watch for weekly plans. Kupid AI’s weekly plan is $12.99 a week, which works out to about $52 a month, far more than its monthly option. Chai has also reportedly shifted to weekly billing.
App store markups
Subscribing through the App Store or Google Play can cost more than paying on the website, as with Kindroid. Replika’s prices are in-app only and vary by region.
How to get the best value

- Pick the plan type that fits your use. If you mostly chat, a flat subscription beats a token app. If you mostly want pictures, budget for tokens.
- Go annual only once you’re sure. The savings are real, but refunds are often hard to get.

Why is the app store price higher than the website?
Apple and Google take a cut of in-app subscriptions, and some developers pass that on. Kindroid, for example, costs $13.99 a month on the web and $15.99 a month through the app stores. If an app offers both, check the web price before subscribing on your phone.
Are lifetime plans a good deal?
Be cautious. Nomi AI's reported lifetime option and Kupid AI's are both unconfirmed by the companies in our research, and a lifetime plan only pays off if the app survives and keeps improving for years. A small company could change or shut down. An annual plan is a lower-risk middle ground.
